Clay Play Workshop
What is this workshop about?⠀
Play is the magical portal to creativity, where anything and everything is possible. As we move from childhood to adulthood, we become more aware of the external world and start buying into belief systems around performance. This is wounding. We stop playing, start performing, and most often lose our creativity along the way.
But in order to live our best, most fulfilled life, we need to understand our natural power to create. When we lose touch with who we are as creative beings, we inevitably feel disempowered, stuck, and lost.⠀
Through play and clay, I gently guide you back to your authentic creative self, offering you the opportunity to move through the world as an empowered creative being.
This clay workshop is not only the starting point of a powerful process of personal observation and rediscovery, but it's also a fun, easy going way to experiment with the healing medium of clay while learning basic hand building techniques.
I’ve spent the last decade working with clay, professionally as a ceramicist, but also as a tool to explore my own healing and transformation. I started playing with clay when I was recovering from a brain tumour in 2012 and it offered me the opportunity to heal, rediscover my creative self, tell my story and now share my learnings.
This workshop will be a safe, private space - no cell phones, no social media, just me and up to 4 of you. I will gently guide you through this beautiful exploration.
I have no creative or clay work experience, can I still take part?
Absolutely. No previous clay experience needed. This workshop is for anyone - whether creative in the traditional sense of the word or not.
This workshop also offers a fun, easy going way in which to experiment with clay whilst learning basic hand building techniques such as coiling, pinching and surface decoration.
What can I expect to get/learn from this workshop?
Throughout the workshop we'll be focusing on going within, deprogramming limiting belief systems around creativity, remembering how to create freely through clay play, inspired by memory work and various meditative, group, tactile, sensory & exploratory exercises.
At the end of the workshop you will:
- have had a restorative, fun filled time playing with clay
- have learnt basic clay hand building & decorative techniques
- be reminded what being creatively conscious, free and empowered feels like, so that you can introduce this way of being into your every day life
- be clearer on who you are, how to listen to your heart, how to follow your truth in the present moment
- have at least one ceramic piece that you made, to serve as your creative talisman (most people end up with around five pieces!)
What does the workshop cost, what does it include?
The workshop is a R2800 investment per person.
PayJustNow is available should you wish to settle in three interest free instalments.
- 5 hours of guided transformative creative play & clay exploration
- all the good quality materials used at the workshop
- a delicious harvest style spread & beverages for the day
- two kiln firings, final clear glazing by me, and delivery (via courier) of your pieces to you when done (approx. 2 weeks after the workshop depending on how quickly the pieces dry)

“This workshop was an incredible experience for me. As adults we struggle to allow ourselves to play. The healing that comes through play is just unbelievable. I would highly recommend this workshop to all adults at all stages of life. This is better than any therapy, and allows you to get in touch with & nurture your inner-child."
"It was phenomenal to say the least. It's opened my mind and creativity in more ways than I had expected. It was just what I needed. I feel a little floored by the experience. I can highly recommend it to anyone needing a creative boost or a meditative healing experience. Thank you!"
“The workshop was heart warming, truly relaxing and fun at the same time. I never considered myself to be creative, and if you feel the same way the workshop will teach/remind you that you don’t have to be a painter, sculptor or a poet to be a creative person. And it does so in a friendly, warm and non judgmental way.”
